Behaviour Support

Our approach

At NT&AS, we view behaviour through a relational lens — as a form of communication, not defiance.
Our teachers and support staff use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and the Professional Caring Relationships (PCR) model to understand what lies beneath behaviour and to create strategies that foster trust, safety, and consistency.

Every child and young person has a reason for how they respond to the world. By working collaboratively with families, carers, schools, and professionals, we help identify unmet needs and build the skills required for self-regulation and resilience

Working Together

Our teams partner closely with schools, families, CAMHS and other professionals to ensure joined-up, person-centred support.
We recognise that challenging behaviour often reflects trauma, anxiety, or unmet needs — not unwillingness. Through understanding and collaboration, we help turn challenges into opportunities for growth.

Empowering Change

NT&AS teachers model empathy, patience and high expectations. They focus on co-regulation and teach young people the skills needed to recognise emotions, manage stress, and make positive choices.
We also provide family coaching and school advisory support to embed effective strategies beyond the teaching sessions themselves.

“NT&AS gave our child the confidence to start again. Their teacher didn’t punish behaviours — they understood them, helped us understand them too, and built strategies that work.”
