Autism Support (PCAT)

Person-Centered Autism Teaching for inclusion, understanding, and achievement

At NT&AS, we use the Person-Centred Autism Teaching (PCAT) model to provide tailored, individualised support for children and young people on the autism spectrum.

PCAT focuses on:

  • Recognising each learner’s strengths, interests, and communication style

  • Designing bespoke learning plans that reflect personal needs and aspirations

  • Creating a structured, predictable, and supportive environment that reduces anxiety and promotes engagement

  • Using adaptive teaching strategies to support learning, social interaction, and independence

Our approach ensures that learners are not defined by their diagnosis, but empowered through their unique capabilities and potential.

Works closely with families to understand each learner’s history, preferences, and challenges

Collaboration with families and schools

Collaborates with schools to provide consistent, structured approaches across environments

Successful autism support relies on strong partnerships with carers, families, and educational settings.

Facilitates regular communication to align teaching, social strategies, and well-being goals

Multi-agency support

NT&AS recognises that children on the autism spectrum often benefit from holistic, multi-agency input. We coordinate with:

  • Health and social care professionals for statutory planning and wellbeing support

  • CAMHS and therapy services to integrate behavioural and emotional support

  • SEND specialists and educational psychologists to inform assessments and interventions

This coordinated approach ensures that learners receive comprehensive, consistent support in all aspects of their development.

Working alongside NT&AS has been invaluable. Their coordinated approach ensures that children on the autism spectrum receive consistent, comprehensive support across health, education, and social care. It makes a real difference to their development and wellbeing.
