NT&AS has a responsibility under Section 175 of the Education Act 2002, to ensure that its functions are carried out with a view to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

How we safeguard our staff and students

  • National and Regional DSLs (Level 3 trained)

  • Level 2 training for all staff annually

  • The safeguarding team provides services nationally via our online reporting system and 24 hour phone response so that teachers’ concerns can be shared immediately.

  • Monitored and confidential safeguarding email address for young people

  • Preventative safeguarding resources hub for all NT&AS staff

  • CPOMS online reporting tools

  • Integration to local authority systems nationally

  • Advice and support for families in need

  • Representation at CIC, CIN, CP, PEP and LAC reviews by Team Managers and Safeguarding Leads.

  • Social worker supervision, support and advice for DSLs

  • Contextual Safeguarding in all plans

  • NT&AS Code of Conduct ensures safeguarding of children and teachers

  • Teachers report the attendance of young people in every timetabled session.
