Working with Parents

What you can expect at NT&AS

What is the National Teaching and Advisory Service?

The National Teaching and Advisory Service is an education organisation. We work with young people all over England and Wales. We want young people to be able to go to school, college or to get into work.

We believe that all young people can achieve if you are given the right help. Everyone has the right to be listened to and achieve the best they can no matter what else they have experienced in life so far.

What do we do?

  • Help your child to develop the skills needed to progress in education and life
  • Help schools and colleges have a better understanding of how they can meet your child’s needs
  • Teach your child in subjects that they might not be confident in
  • Help your child to learn what they need to know for  GCSE or other exams
  • Help your child to be confident that they can behave in a positive way
  • Help your child go to school or college.

NT&AS teachers will

  • Arrive on time
  • Plan lessons with engaging and appropriate tasks
  • Be respectful, and flexible
  • Give feedback to young people and parents/carers
  • Give notice of any changes to a scheduled session
  • Set and mark homework
  • Not engage in any physical contact (including restraint).

Sessions will take place on agreed times/days during local authority term times – NT&AS will inform you of these.

Please support the education success of your child

NT&AS will meet with you and your child and plan with you to make sure that you are fully involved in decisions regarding the programme of support.

Please share information that is necessary for NT&AS to work safely and to make progress.

Attendance at meetings and good communication with your NT&AS Education Practitioner is always appreciated.

When your child is attending school please help to reinforce the school rules and expectations, especially attendance and punctuality.

NT&AS will help you as much as we can and if we all work together we will achieve more.
