NT&AS Casework
Meeting the needs of Looked After Children and Children in Need in your care within mainstream education
We have developed a unique methodology which is geared to meeting the needs of Looked After Children and children in need, whilst also meeting the needs of schools, addressing the strategic objectives of Social Services Departments and Local Education Authorities, and simultaneously addressing the whole social inclusion agenda.
Our Casework model addresses the individual needs of Looked After Children and young people within the mainstream education sector.
For Looked After Children this means:-
1) Fewer placement breakdowns;
2) A more 'engaged' looked after population;
3) Holistic planning, which integrates social work and educational objectives;
4) The 'normalisation' of Looked After Children's educational experiences.
For an example of exactly what our casework input can mean to an individual child click here to read a letter recently sent in to NT&AS from one of our Looked After Children.
For Children in Need this means:-
1) Meaningful support to help mainstream children and young people within their own families and communities;
2) Access to mainstream schooling, to normal school experiences and to recognised qualifications;
3) Holistic planning which takes account of all their needs and circumstances.
For Social Services Departments, the consequences are:-
1) Budget savings, with more Looked After Children able to cope in family placements, and less use of expensive alternatives;
2) Real support for often demoralised foster carers;
3) A better chance of meeting government targets, especially those spelt out in the Quality Protects Initiative;
4) Improved relations between departments, and real meaning to the term 'corporate parent';
5) An end to the marginalisation and segregation of Looked After Children's educational experiences.
For Local Education Authorities the benefits can include:-
1) Reduced exclusion rates;
2) Real and meaningful support for schools struggling to meet the needs of often disaffected and challenging young people;
3) Reduced dependence on residential schooling and other experience marginalized provision, with clear cost benefits;
4) A significant contribution to meeting a range of government targets relating to social inclusion.
This only gives a brief flavour of the benefits of using the NT&AS casework service. To find out more click here to contact us and get one of our staff to provide you with more detail and ask any questions you may have.
