NT&AS Professional Services The unique methodology of the NT&AS is geared to meeting the needs of children whilst also meeting the needs of schools, addressing the strategic objectives of Social Services Departments and Local Education Authorities, and simultaneously addressing the whole social inclusion agenda. The current range of professional services include: Direct Educational Casework support to Looked After Children and Children In Need, and their schools (subject to tender); Training on the full range of issues which impact on the educational circumstances and performance of Looked After Children and children in need; Audits of existing services and provisions within Local Authorities and the independent sector for Looked After Children and children in need. NT&AS is frequently invited to consider and review the effectiveness of existing arrangements within individual local authorities, and to advise on their development or the establishment of new, complimentary professional services where appropriate. This work includes the consultation and involvement with young people themselves, as an important part of the process; Management and Consultancy services - providing strategic and practical advice on a political and professional level to individual local authorities on a wide range of issues which directly or indirectly impact on the education of Looked After Children and children in need. These have included the planned and emergency closure of residential homes and residential schools and their direct replacement with education support services, which focus on mainstream schools and communities. In addition to the above services further explained elsewhere on the site, we also provide the following: Network Advice Services - As the only national education organisation working specifically with Looked After Children and children in need, NT&AS is widely and routinely consulted by local authorities, the independent sector and other national and local social work and education organisations. In addition, teachers and other professional colleagues working with Looked After Children in local authorities, frequently in isolation, regularly consult NT&AS as a means of professional support. If you are in need of an advice, or have any other question you would like to put to us, please use our enquiry form for a prompt and considered response; Conferences and Seminars on the education of Looked After Children and children in need and related issues. NT&AS organises national conferences and events, which have the purpose of sharing best practice with colleagues working in local authorities and other agencies, and contribute to maintaining the educational interestes of Looked After Children at the top of the political and professional agenda. Details of forthcoming dates will be added to the site very soon! Publications - we contribute on a regular basis articles and material for publication in the professional media. The organisation has close links with research institutions and researchers with an interest in education and social work practice. Additionally, NT&AS produces and publishes professional literature, training materials and other information as part of its commitment to the education of Looked After Children and children in need.
